Dr. Liana Valente is admired for her performances singing both traditional and new opera, oratorio and song literature. (Photo: Berte with St. Petersburg, FL Opera). A published scholar she is a respected pedagogue and is in demand as a masterclass clinician as well as performer.
From 2015 to 2022 Dr. Valente served as Coordinator of the Classical Voice Area (and Assistant Chair of the Department 2021 - 2022) at Howard University where she taught applied voice, all of the classical voice academic courses (song lit., diction, vocal pedagogy) and directed the opera theater ensemble workshop.

Dr. Valente serves the National Federation of Music Clubs as their Representative to the United Nations Department of Global Communications. Her research now focuses on quality of life issues for older persons, specifically the benefits of music participation to improve quality of life. Previous conference presentations include the International Alliance for Women in music (June 2022), Aging & Social Change 11th Interdisciplinary Conference (September 2021), American Society of Aging Conference (April 2021), and College Music Society (March 2021).
