Gwendalyn Rose Diaz is a young aspiring artist in the Pearland/Houston area in Texas. She just had the time of her life playing a dream role as Winne Foster in the spring musical Tuck Everlasting at Episcopal High School and was awarded Outstanding Female Performance in the 2020 EHS Arts Pillar Awards. She is also proud to announce that she has recently been crowned 2020 Teen Universe Texas title in which she plans to promote a Mental Health Awareness platform “Self Love Isn’t Selfish” for the youth of today.
Gwens proudest theatrical credits also include: Paul (King Charles III), Ada (Nobody Sleeps), Golde (Fiddler on the Roof), Gratiano (Othello), Cinderella (Into The Woods) with EHS ONSTAGE; Ilona Ritter (She Loves Me) and Rapunzel (Into the Woods) with Operativo Houston; Vivienne Kensington (Legally Blonde), Annie (Annie), & Patty Simcox (Grease) with Pearland Little Theatre; Rafiki/Nala (The Lion King), Fairy Godmother (R&H Cinderella), and Ariel (The Little Mermaid) with Kids Backporch Productions.
Her most memorable theater awards include Outstanding Female Performance in 2020 EHS Arts Pillar Awards for her role as Winnie Foster, Outstanding Female Performance in the 2019 EHS Arts Pillar Awards for the role of Golde in Fiddler on the Roof, 2019 CS Music scholarship to Viterbo University and top finalist in 2019 CS Music MT summer vocal competition.
Gwendalyn has been an all-around dancer for 11 years: ballet, contemporary, jazz, tap, hip-hop, etc.; She trains at the Coomer Ballet Conservatory in the Summer and is an active member of the IMPACT Dance Ensemble at her high school.
Some of her other aspirations include: guitar, chorale, ,cantering at her community church, singing for weddings/quinceañeras, pageantry, and providing quality time towards community service. She is also a strong leadership member of EHS Arts Council, National Honor Society, International Thespian Society and Student Senate.
