Frequently engaged as a recitalist and soloist in major concert and oratorio works, Jamaican soprano Sashekia Brown has performed throughout the Caribbean and North America. She has also been featured by the Colours of Classical Music and the Music Inclusion Coalition and is active as a young artist. She was a scholarship recipient in the 2021 Premiere Opera Vocal Arts Institute and placed first place in the 2021 NATS Cal-Western Regional competition; the Advanced Classical Treble Voice; 4th/5th Year College & the Graduate Age American Negro Spiritual categories. In addition, Sashekia won the 2021 UNR Concerto Competition and was featured in the 2022 Annual Honour’s Concert with the UNR Symphony Orchestra. Sashekia is also a member of and regular soloist with the newly formed Jason Max Ferdinand singers who premiered in the 2021 VOCES8 Foundation “Live from London '' Festival Series. She completed her undergraduate training with Jamaican pedagogues Dr. Keastner Robertson and Dr. Carline Waugh, and is currently completing graduate studies at the University of Nevada in Reno.
