Bio

Soprano Andrea Bickford is praised for her musical sensitivity, stage acting, and vocal power. She has been seen and heard on opera and concert stages worldwide. Possessing a diverse repertoire, Ms. Bickford has sung the roles of Foreign Princess in Dvorak’s Rusalka with LAHSOW, Rose in San Francisco Conservatory’s production of Later the Same Evening, Vitellia in La clemenza di Tito and Iris in Handel’s Semele at Ithaca College, and Suor Dolcina in Suor Angelica with Capitol Opera in Albany, NY. This Spring, Andrea was to perform the role of Rosalinde in San Francisco Conservatory’s production of Die Fledermaus, suspending performance due to Covid-19.

Ms. Bickford has performed on the Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center singing the soprano solo in Barber’s Prayer of Kierkegaard with the Ithaca College Choir and Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Janet Galván. She has also had the privilege to perform at the Casa di Riposo per Musicisti in Milan, Italy. Under the direction of Benton Hess, Ms.Bickford has participated in Si Parla Si Canta during the summer of 2015 in Urbania, Italy. She was also invited back for the inaugural winter session in 2019 in. Arona, Italy, where Ms. Bickford performed with the Orchestra Sinfonica Carlo Coccia of Novara.

An active competitor, Ms. Bickford has recently been a finalist in several world-wide competitions. She was recently named a finalist in the American Vocal Arts International Collegiate Singing Championship. In 2019, Ms. Bickford was a finalist in the Vermont Vocal Competition in Brandon, VT, as well as the East Bay Opera League competition in Oakland, CA.

Ms. Bickford’s compelling stage presence paired with her extensive background in dance couples to deliver consistent, graceful, and meaningful performances. Andrea holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with a Minor in Dance from Ithaca College. Ms. Bickford recently received her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Catherine Cook.
