Hannah Rice is a Louisiana-based singer and composer who is currently a junior studying Vocal Performance (Dr. Lori Bade) and Composition (Dr. Mara Gibson) and at Louisiana State University. Raised by two classical singers, Hannah’s earliest memories consist of sitting in the aisle of opera houses listening to her favorite arias with anticipation. Since then, her passion for music has only grown.
Hannah has sung in LSU’s opera chorus for their 2019 production of Les mamelles de Tirésias and was selected to participate in both the 2019 and 2020 SNATS scenes programs. An active member of SNATS, she participated in the NATS State Competition, placing 2nd in her category, and in 2020, the LSU voice faculty awarded her the Ruth and Dan Bivens Scholarship Award. Most recently, Hannah was cast as Sister Constance in LSU’s virtual production of Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites. She is excited to present the role later this year!
In addition to singing opera, Hannah enjoys performing her fellow composers’ new works and has experience performing pieces that incorporate contemporary vocal techniques and live electronics. Most recently, she presented a colleague’s work for voice and live electronics in the Electric LaTex Festival at UNT. In her compositions for film and sound libraries, Hannah frequently employs her extensive range and contemporary techniques to develop her soundtracks.
