Marbella is a 17 year old Vocal Major at Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts in West Palm Beach, FL. She is currently a Senior and an aspiring Soprano in Vocal Performance, currently coached by Marilyn Mims. She has been studying voice privately for 8 years, has taken advanced college courses such as College Music Theory, and continues to be involved in the community by collaborating with choirs such as The Young Singers of the Palm Beaches and The Broadway Artists Intensive. She was casted to be a part of the children's chorus for the Palm Beach Opera, Puccini's Turandot, which was performed at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. Marbella is on her 2nd year as a Studio Artist with the Palm Beach Opera Studio Program and will be auditioning for the upcoming Opera, "Carmen", as part of the children's chorus. She is also part of the children's chorus for "The Shoe Bird", with the Palm Beach Philharmonic Orchestra.
Throughout middle school and High School years, Marbella was selected for All-State Performances, (2017, 2018, 2021), American Choral Associations Regional and National Competitions (ACDA 2016 in TN, 2017 in MN), Heritage Festival of Gold (2018 in Chicago) and the FL ACDA (2019). She has participated through school at the Prism concert and most recently, led a team of singers and created an ensemble to perform at the Kravis.
Furthermore, Marbella was selected as a finalist for Carnegie Hall's Honors Performance Series and performed in the 2020 High School Honors Treble Choir in Carnegie Hall, on Feb 2nd. She was also selected to perform with the Honors Concert Choir at the Musikverein Hall in Vienna, Austria but postponed due to Covid-19.
Marbella continues to participate in solo competitions resulting as finalist and summer pre-college camps such as in Florida State University and most recently in summer of 2021 at the coveted New York University Steinhardt Classical Voice Intensive to enhance her education, experience, and continue her professional and personal growth. Through Young Singers of the Palm Beaches' Lyric, Cantate, and Community choirs, she has and will continue to volunteer in building a stronger community through song. For example, she is now a choir Intern and soloist for The First United Methodist Church where she has weekly rehearsals and weekend performances for the local church community.
Marbella has 7 years of weekly dance training in ballet, jazz, modern, tap, acro, and lyrical technique. She has taken Stage Combat, Improv theater, drawing, painting classes and graphic design. Marbella is proud of her mixed background of Puerto Rican, Native American and Norwegian descent. In addition to singing, she loves to play beach volleyball and loves travel to meet people from different cultures and walks of life.
