Bio

Soprano Alexandra Taylor, is from Naples, Florida, where she began her musical training at the age of twelve with Opera Naples. She has performed in numerous Opera Naples productions and was a soloist in many of their concerts. In high school, Alexandra was named the First Place Winner of The American Prize in Vocal Performance opera/operetta division in which she was awarded The Friedrich and Virginia Schorr Memorial Award (2016-17). Additionally, Alexandra was awarded Third Place in The American Prize Vocal Performance competition in art song/oratorio (2017-18). Alexandra is a fourth year undergraduate at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Voice under the tutelage of Alice Hopper and previously, Patricia Stiles. She has been a member of the Jacobs School of Music’s University Chorale and made her IU Opera Theater role debut as a “Street Singer” in Leonard Bernstein’s production of “Mass”. Alexandra has also performed in the chorus of IU Opera Theater’s production of “Suor Angelica” as “Suor Osmina”. In the summer of 2019 she performed the role of Barbarina in Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” in the historic Estates Theater with the Prague Summer Nights Music Festival. Last spring, Alexandra was cast as “Suor Genovieffa” in Utah Vocal Arts Academy’s production of “Suor Angelica” before the program was moved online due to Covid-19 . Alexandra is a member of Indiana University’s Hutton Honors College and is also one of the Jacobs School of Music’s Premier Young Artist Scholarship Recipients.
