Taylor Marie Gonzaga is an emerging coloratura soprano and teaching artist. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in music performance from the university of Portland and is currently a second year masters candidate in vocal performance at the university of Minnesota Duluth, where she was awarded a graduate assistantship. With several years of stage experience, Taylor has appeared in the Pacific Northwest with companies such as light opera of Portland, the former mocks crest opera, and the se Portland community music center, has done crossovers into musical theater with the renegade theater in Duluth, and has also performed roles and concerts as an emerging artist with the music in the marche Italian opera studies program in Italy, the Miami music festival, the Halifax summer opera festival, and the UMD opera studio. Roles performed/studied include: mrs Pinkerton in menottis old maid and the thief, Edith in pirates of penzance, Kate in Yeomen of the guard, Venere in cavallis l’egisto, and suor agnese in mese Mariano. Taylor is a multi time NATS cascade placeholder at the state and regional level, and has been the recipient of other scholarships and awards from the university of Portland and the onstage New York musical theater competition. Up next, Taylor will be performing Lucy in a virtual production of Menottis The Telephone with UMD opera. When Taylor is not onstage, she also works as a sacred music director and runs her own small voice studio. She currently studies in the studio of Rachel Inselman.
