Mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Kinder enjoys performing throughout New England in opera and oratorio works. Recent performances in Boston include Rosina in The Barber of Seville Pop-Up Concert (NEMPAC Boston), Le Prince Charmant (cover) in Cendrillon (Promenade Opera Project), Captain von Frauenliebe in The Beautiful Bridegroom (MetroWest Opera) Idamante in Idomeneo, and the title role in Handel’s Rinaldo (Boston Opera Collaborative), and The Witch in Hansel and Gretel (MetroWest Opera). Elizabeth has joined the ensembles of Odyssey Opera (Sir John In Love, Dimitrij, Joan of Arc at the Stake, The Chronicle of Nice) and Boston Lyric Opera (Norma, The Handmaid's Tale). Elizabeth has been featured as a soloist with the Providence Singers, Holy Cross College Choir and Orchestra, and Stonington Chorale in oratorios including Purcell’s Come, Ye Sons of Art, Handel’s Dettingen Te Deum, Zelenka’s Magnificat, Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass, Bach’s Cantata 140, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Howell’s Requiem.

A promoter of new music, in 2013 Elizabeth joined the Janiec Opera Company at the Brevard Music Center, where she premiered Andrew Posner’s What the Thunder Said for soloist and chamber orchestra with the ITCH Ensemble, as well as a song project based on the poetry of Robert Frost under the guidance of composer Robert Aldridge. While at Brevard, she also premiered the roles of Cat Lady/Origamist in the premiere of Michael Ching's Speed Dating Tonight!, and performed as Sylvianne in Dean Anthony's The Merry Widow. In Spring 2013 Elizabeth was the featured soloist in Boston composer Daniel Sauceda's Native American oratorio All our Relations, and participated as a soloist in Keith Kusterer's Pandora, a dramatic scene excerpted from his larger work 'anachronos de musica', at the Boston Conservatory.

Elizabeth's past performances in Boston include Character One in the Boston Conservatory’s highly-acclaimed Fall 2012 production of Conrad Susa’s Transformations, and Cathleen in Ralph Vaughn Williams’ Riders to the Sea, performed at the Museum of Fine Arts in April 2013. Scene work at the Boston Conservatory ranges from Blonde in Die Entfűrung aus dem Serail (February 2013), Anna Gomez in The Consul (Spring 2012), Frasquita in Carmen (Fall 2011), and Niade in Ariadne auf Naxos (Fall 2011). Elizabeth performed the Mozartean roles of Susanna (2008), Pamina (2009), and Donna Anna (2010) with Connecticut College’s orchestrated scenes program.

Enthusiastic about musical theater, Ms. Kinder enjoyed performing the role of Countess Charlotte Malcolm in the Harrower Summer Opera Workshop’s June 2012 performance of A Little Night Music. While at Harrower, she also covered the role of Pamina in Die Zauberflöte and performed in a masterclass with Sylvia McNair. In December 2012 Ms. Kinder was awarded an Honorable Mention for her interpretation of Mahler’s “Das himmlische Leben” at the Boston Conservatory’s annual Concerto Competition. Elizabeth was also awarded an Honorable Mention at Opera Theatre of Connecticut's Amici Vocal Competition in May 2012.

In Fall 2009, Ms. Kinder made her formal operatic debut with the Connecticut Lyric Opera as Giannetta in L'elisir d'amor. She was invited back in Fall 2010 to sing Papagena in CLO’s production of Die Zauberflöte; the performance marked her third season with the company, with whom she also sang chorus in Eugene Onegin (Fall 2008) and La traviata (Spring 2009).

Ms. Kinder received her master’s degree in Vocal Performance from the Boston Conservatory in May 2013. In May 2011 she graduated magna cum laude from Connecticut College with degrees in History and German. Ms. Kinder pursued her dual interests in music and German with a semester in Salzburg, Austria (Spring 2010), where she studied opera and music history at the internationally-acclaimed Mozarteum. www.elizabethkindermezzo.com
