Hailie has loved performing since she was a very young child. She started taking voice lessons at the age of 13, and throughout high school participated in the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs Junior Festival. She qualified for the OFMC State Music Competition in 2013, where she received 3rd place in the Alfred Grey Competition for her performance of “Alleluja” from Mozart’s Exsultate, jubilate, becoming the only vocalist to place in the competition that year. She has also participated in several other competitions, including the Central Ohio Singing Competition in 2012 (third place senior division) and 2013 (third place non-classical division). In 2014, she was chosen to be a finalist in the Voice of the City competition in Columbus, Ohio, and in 2019, she was selected to be a contestant on the Columbus, Ohio portion of the PBS talent show Celebration of Music.
Hailie has been participating in theatrical and musical performances since 2012. Some of her favorite local theatre roles include Chava (Fiddler on the Roof), Irene Molloy (Hello, Dolly!), Laurey Williams (Oklahoma!), Minnie Fay (Hello, Dolly!), Mary Poppins (Mary Poppins), and Kathy Selden (Singin’ in the Rain). In 2018 and 2019, she was chosen to be the soprano soloist in the Marion Civic Chorus's annual presentation of Handel's Messiah. She was slated to reprise this performance in 2020, but unfortunately the presentation was cancelled.
She attended Capital University, where she graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Music and History. During her undergraduate career, she appeared in several productions with the Capital University Conservatory of Music, including as Dater #9 (Talkative Girl) in the comic one-act opera Speed Dating Tonight!, as Rapunzel in Into the Woods, as Mrs. Nordstrom in A Little Night Music, and as Gretel, Frasquita, and Cunegonde in the opera scenes program Scenes in Jeans.
In 2019, she went to the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico as a soloist and emerging artist with the OperaMaya International Music Festival. In this emerging artist program, she sang in several locations in the states of Quintana Roo and Yucatan. She was supposed to participate in a young artist program in Italy in 2020, singing the role of Papagena in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, and in a young artist program in the Netherlands, where she was going to be the cover/cast b performer of Poppea in Handel’s Agrippina, but sadly both programs were cancelled in 2020, and again in 2021.
Hailie has been fortunate enough to study with several wonderful voice teachers, including Professor Mark A. Baker, Dr. Jennifer Whitehead, and her current teacher, Professor Monica Hidalgo. She also enjoys taking dance lessons, and has experience in ballet, jazz, tap, Scottish Highland, ballroom, and latin dance. She hopes to enter a graduate program to obtain her M.M. in Voice Performance in the fall of 2024.
