Whitney Campbell is a 22-year-old soprano from New Orleans, Louisiana. She recently earned a B.M. in Vocal Performance from Oberlin Conservatory under the tutelage of Marlene Rosen. Next year, she will begin working towards an M.M. in Vocal Performance at San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she will study with Rhoslyn Jones. In January 2019, Ms. Campbell was named a Rubin Scholar by Marilyn Horne. Her recent roles include Madame Lidoine in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites, Alma March in Adamo’s Little Women, Mrs. Grose in The Turn of the Screw by Benjamin Britten, and Mrs. Gobineau in Menotti’s The Medium. In summer 2019, she attended the Chautauqua Institution, where she performed Helena in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She was looking forward to being a 2020 Soprano Fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center this summer. Unfortunately, due to concerns regarding COVID-19, all in-person activities at Tanglewood have been cancelled for the 2020 season.
