Hugo Negrete is an Argentinian/Spanish baritone born in Florida, and grew up in San Isidro, Buenos Aires. He currently lives in Europe.
Hugo started his musical studies in Piano at the Astor Piazzola Superior Music Conservatory. At the same time, he started his vocal studies at the Carlos López Buchardo Superior Music Conservatory.
Then his studies continued at the National University of Arts (UNA) where he received a Bachelor’s degree of Arts in Lyric Singing. He has also received a Professor degree in Musical Arts.
While persuing his degree, he studied with soprano Marisa Albano and the baritone Eduardo Cogorno, and took part in the Pergolesi Vocal Study, singing operistic roles and zarzuela’s romances.
Since his graduation, he has been further developing his voice with the famous baritone Omar Carrión, one of the leading opera singers of his generation. Hugo attended numerous master courses, and received advice from internationally renowned artists such as José Alonso, Dante Ranieri, Ronaldo Rosa De Scalzo, Carlos Kauffmann, Graciela Ulibarri, Rita Casamayor, Damián Roger, Daniel Saito, Roberto Luvini, Ortiz Rocca, Susana Frangi, Cesar Tello, Enrique Roel, Ezequiel Fautario y Rozita Zozulia, among others.
In recent years, Hugo has performed regularly as a soloist in recitals and concerts, singing the baritone role’s parts of the most important Opera and Zarzuela composers.
