Based in Boston, MA, South Korean-American soprano Katie Song-Yi Nam is a first year Masters in Voice at the Jacobs School of Music under the tutelage of Heidi Grant Murphy. Nam holds a B.M. in Voice from NYU and studied with Harolyn Blackwell. At NYU, she performed the roles of Ilia (Idomeneo), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), and Dorabella (Così fan tutte). In 2022, she was a Young Artist for the Trentino Music Festival in Italy where she performed the role of Second Lady (Die Zauberflöte). Her musical theatre roles include Marian Paroo (The Music Man), Johanna (Sweeney Todd), and Claudia (Nine). Nam was the National Anthem soloist at NYU’s 2023 All University Commencement at the Yankee Stadium and a Steinhardt Singer at Radio City. Most recently she was in the chorus of Jacob’s The Nutcracker and was a semifinalist for American Pop’s Next Gen National Voice Competition.
