Bio

Juliánna Andrea Sándor is a 24 years old mezzo-soprano. She was born in Sfântu Gheorghe, Romania, being fluent in both Hungarian and Romanian. She graduated from Transylvania University of Brașov with a Bachelor and Master Degree in Vocal Performance. Currently, she is pursuing her second master’s in Vocal Performance at University of Mobile, Alabama. Her repertoire includes opera arias, oratorios, cantatas and complete song cycles. During her master’s in Romania, Andrea focused on 20th century music by composers such as: Stravinsky, Britten, Menotti, Thomson, Barber, Respighi and Schoenberg. Among the opera roles that she performed are: Sorceress from Dido and Aeneas by Purcell (Transilvania University Opera Workshop) and Cherubino from Le Nozze di Figaro by Mozart (AAMA, Salzburg, 2022). Within UniTBv Opera Workshop, she also performed partial roles such as: Tolomeo from Giulio Cesare by Handel, Orfeo from Orfeo ed Euridice by Gluck, Orlofsky from Die Fledermaus by Strauss II and The Gingerbread Witch from Hansel und Gretel by Humperdinck. In 2022 Andrea was Winner of Concerto Competition and performed the aria Afraid, am I afraid? by Menotti with the University Orchestra. Andrea also performed two solo recitals at Brașov Philharmonic. Last time she was seen as Edith from Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan at University of Mobile.
