Bio

Alexandria McNeely, soprano, is pursuing a masters degree in Vocal Performance and Literature at the Eastman School of Music under the tutelage of Katherine Ciesinski. She also studied in Italy at Si Parla, Si Canta during the summer of 2018. While attending this program, Alexandria had the opportunity to work with many incredible artists such as Benton Hess, Federico Sacchi, Chris Merritt, and Nicole Cabell. She is an alumna of Lenoir-Rhyne University, earning her degrees in Vocal Performance and Sacred Music in May of 2019 as a vocal student of Dr. Judith Burbank.

Alexandria has performed roles in numerous opera scenes such as Fiordiligi from Cosi Fan Tutte by Mozart, The Countess from Le Nozze Di Figaro by Mozart, Donna Elvira from Don Giovanni by Mozart, and Anne Truelove from The Rake's Progress by Stravinsky. In the summer of 2021, Alexandria will make her debut as The Countess in Le Nozze Di Figaro as a part of the Prague Summer Nights festival in the Czech Republic. Some of her opera credits include Suor Infermiera from Suor Angelica by Puccini, and to be performed this spring at the Eastman School of Music, La Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi by Puccini(Cancelled due to Covid-19). Other performance opportunities at Eastman have thus far included Britten’s War Requiem with the Eastman-Rochester Chorus, Sweeney Todd (chorus) with the Eastman Opera Theater (cancelled due to covid 19), master classes with featured artists Hila Plitmann and Kierra Duffy as well as a premiere of Tyberg lieder with the Eastman faculty member, Alison d’Amato.

Alexandria has been a featured soloist in many ensembles such as the Eastman Chorale, Lenoir-Rhyne A-cappella choir, Chapel Choir, College Singers and Lenoir-Rhyne Youth Chorus. She was featured on the 2019 spring tour of the LR A-cappella choir as the soprano soloist for Hear My Prayer by Felix Mendelssohn. Most recently, Alexandria performed as a featured soloist on Dan Forrest’s Jubilate Deo with the Western Piedmont Symphony, Hickory NC, under the baton of Maestro Matthew Troy.

In her undergraduate studies at LR she was awarded the Hickory Music Club Scholarship, the Stahler Award, the St. Andrews Scholarship, The Beulah Clemmer Tompkins Music Award, and was President of the A Cappella Choir in the 2018-2019 academic year.

In the future, Alexandria hopes to pursue postgraduate education with an artist diploma. She is looking forward to every opportunity that she receives and is excited for the next step in her journey.
