Bass-baritone Henry Courtney is a junior in the Classical Voice conservatory at the Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA) in Santa Ana, California. He studies with Milena Kitic and Cheryl Fielding.
Henry was selected to sing the title role in his school's production of The Marriage of Figaro. With LA Opera community productions, he sang the roles of Eddy in On Gold Mountain and Shepherd in Moses. In the last year, he appeared as a chorus member in Parnassus Society’s La Fille du Regiment and La Musica Lirica’s La Traviata, which was presented on multiple stages throughout the Italian region of Montefeltro.
Beyond performing, Henry holds multiple roles in the educational and production aspects of vocal arts. He is on the staff of the All-American Boys Chorus (AABC), where he began singing at the age of seven and now works as prefect, theory teacher and rehearsal pianist. He is music director for the OCSA Showcase Team, which produces student-created and student-directed shows fusing operatic traditions and contemporary songs. He is particularly excited about his role as Intern with Parnassus Society, where he has the opportunities to perform alongside internationally acclaimed musicians and learn about the production and management processes of an arts organization.
Preceding his participation in singing, Henry began studying piano at age four, and is currently a student of Craig Richey. He was recently awarded Panel Honors Winner by the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC).
