Cydney Washington

• In the 2024/2025 season, Cydney will perform as Dame Hannah in Ruddigore, Zita in Gianni Schicchi, and Basketweaver/Older Sister in Les Malheurs d'Orphèe. She will also compete in the Laffont competition, in South Carolina, and be one of three finalists to represent the Voice department in the University of South Carolina School of Music, Concerto Competition.

With a voice of many colors, mezzo-soprano, Cydney Marie is driven by her passion for authentic musical performance. She excels in various genres, including Opera, Musical Theatre, Gospel/Worship, Jazz, Pop, and R&B/Soul. Regardless of the style or language, Cydney brings rich emotion to everything she does.

Her recent credits include Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro (Opera at USC). Pythia in We've Got Our Eye on You, Ottavia in L’incoronazione di Poppea, Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro, Frances in The Men I Am Not Married To, (Baldwin Wallace Conservatory). Madame de la Haltière in Cendrillon, (Chicago Summer Opera).

Ensemble in the world premiere of The Flower of Hawai’i, Folks Operetta. Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance, Ronny in Hair, (Millikin University). Little Inez in Hairspray, (Brightside Theater). Summer programs include Accademia Vocale Lorenzo Malfatti in Lucca, Italy (2024). Young artist at Chicago Summer Opera (2022). Young artist at the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, (2018).

Cydney’s competition achievements include advancing as a semifinalist in the Annapolis Opera Competition (2024), earning Honorable Mention for the Lorenzo Malfatti Vocal Academy (2023), and winning first place in the Classical Singers Competition (Musical Theatre University/Pre-Professional division, 2022).

Cydney is pursuing a Master’s of Music in Opera Theatre at the University of South Carolina, studying under the guidance of Rachel Calloway. She earned her B.A. in Vocal Performance, with an emphasis in Vocal Pedagogy, from Baldwin Wallace University. When not performing, she runs her voice studio, CMW Sounds LLC.
