Described as having “pipes with real heft and warmth” and “an expressive face, ever interesting to watch” (Boston Musical Intelligencer), lyric soprano Jessica Jacobs is garnering attention for her “radiant” voice and “affecting” acting.
In the 2019-20 season, Ms. Jacobs sang The Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors with VOX New England, as well as in the professional ensembles of Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra in Aida and Boston Lyric Opera in Norma.
Notable previous engagements have included Pamina and Micaëla with Barn Opera, Rosalinda and The Merry Widow with VOX New England, Mimì with Long Island Opera, Rosasharn in The Grapes of Wrath and Nella (Gianni Schicchi) with Sugar Creek Opera, Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Magda (La Rondine), Ilia (Idomeneo), Marguerite (Faust), Armida (Rinaldo), and Miss Wordsworth (Albert Herring) with Boston Opera Collaborative, and Mimi and Rosalinda with NEMPAC Opera Project.
She has won an encouragement award from the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, First Place in the Vermont Vocal Competition, Second Place in the Peter Elvins Competition, and was chosen as a finalist in the Orpheus and MetroWest Opera Competitions.
