Rachel Edwards is currently pursuing her Masters of Music in Vocal Performance at The Longy School of Music of Bard College. While there she’s had the pleasure of performing in Lucio Silla and Octoberfest in 2019 as a chorus member. Recently she was cast as Barbara in Robert Wards “Roman Fever” for the Spring 2020 Longy Opera season. Rachel is from Hilo, Hawaii which is where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Performing Arts: Music at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. On the island Rachel discovered her affinity for solo performance after being cast in her very first musical as Cinderella. She went on to grace the stage as Kim in Miss Saigon, Lady Thiang in The King and I, and Judy Bernly in “9-5” The Musical. She expanded her performance view by attending the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival where she learned of the Longy School of Music. Not only did Rachel perform all over the island with different companies and choruses, but she also tested her directing and conduction chops with a local church and in several Hilo Community Players seasonal musicals. With all this luck she’s run away to The Longy School of Music in Cambridge to learn as much as she can about music to bring home to share.
