Bio

Born into a family of accountants in Chicago, Illinois, Soprano Siobhan McNulty's path to the performing arts was an unexpected yet deeply fulfilling journey. Her early affinity for storytelling and performance began in her middle school years. As the founder of her school's newspaper and an active member of her Girl Scout troop, Siobhan blended her talents in narrative creation with community engagement and laid the foundation for her career in musical theater and opera.

Siobhan's dedication to community service further blossomed at Jones College Prep in the pre-law program, culminating in a senior year internship at Catholic Charities’ legal department where she assisted underserved communities. This exposure to diverse life stories and the pursuit of justice through her internship not only enriched her understanding of the human condition but also profoundly influenced her artistic expression, bringing depth and authenticity to her performances on stage.

As a teen, Siobhan was actively involved in plays and musicals at Infinity Arts Academy, where she discovered the transformative power of theater. Now studying Musical Theatre at North Central College, Siobhan has embraced every opportunity to perform, including participating in the Opera Workshop for the past two years. Under the guidance of accomplished vocal instructors Jennifer L. Barrett, Mezzo-Soprano, Victoria VerHoven, Soprano, and Val Kuznetsov, Tenor, and with additional coaching from Rami Sarriedine and Calio Alonso, Siobhan has refined her vocal technique and has appeared in partial roles such as Fiordiligi in "Cosi Fan Tutte," Adele in "Die Fledermaus," and Mabel in "The Pirates of Penzance."

Outside of Opera Workshop, she has performed in musicals like "Next to Normal" and "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," and made her debut with the Berlin Opera Academy as Mercury in "Orpheus in the Underworld." This summer, she will join the International Lyric Academy's Musical Theatre program and Varna International’s Opera and Oratorio Program.

Siobhan McNulty was awarded five scholarships to North Central College, where she has had the pleasure of performing on the school’s famous Pfeiffer, Madden, and Meiley-Swallow stages. Siobhan was also recently awarded a scholarship to Varna International Music Academy in South Carolina, where she will soon perform the role of the Dew Fairy in “Hansel and Gretel” and as a soloist in the Broadway Revue and Serenata Italiana. She will also be a chorister in Puccini’s “Messa di Gloria,” conducted by Gregory Buchalter. Siobhan was a soloist in 2023’s Opernfest, performing at Berlin’s Alte Munze theater.

Beyond her theater performances, Siobhan McNulty actively explores various artistic disciplines, including vocal techniques, acting, writing, and theatrical design. Her commitment to personal growth is further reflected in her active participation in ventures such as her newest project, designing hair and makeup for the world premiere of Maddie Dennis-Yates’ play “this is not the reunion.” Siobhan is an avid volunteer at Misericordia, and strives to be an advocate for disability rights. She hopes to foster an environment of equality and accessibility in any space she has control over. Siobhan has also begun to explore a passion for teaching. Siobhan’s goals for the future involve becoming a formidable interpreter of great roles in Musical Theatre and Opera, whilst creating an environment for other young talent to flourish.
