ERIKA MEYER, a Seattle native, began singing and composing at a young age. Starting piano lessons from the age of seven, Erika began singing classically as a soloist, and was granted the First Place district award in in Solo Ensemble during her senior year in high school, in Bothell, Washington. She graduated with Cum Laude honors with her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and her Bachelor of Arts in Music Theory from the University of Washington in June, 2019. Her most recent operatic roles include Soprano 2 in Hydrogen Jukebox, Le Chauve-Souris as well as Une Pastourelle in l’enfant et les sortilèges, Second Witch in Dido and Aeneas with the University of Washington Opera. During the past two summers she was featured in scene programs as Niece 1 in Peter Grimes, Cendrillion in Cendrillion (Viardot), Polissena in Radamisto, and more in programs Music in the Marche in Mondavio, Italy and Lawrence Opera Theater in Lawrence, Kansas. In 2018, she was a featured soloist with the University of Washington’s Symphonic Band in “All the pretty little horses” from Five Folksongs for Soprano and Band by Bernard Gilmore. Also with a strong passion for composition, Erika has simultaneously studied composition privately, as well as attended composition festivals in Paris and Virginia during and after her time in undergrad. As a strong lover of opera, classical music, and the arts, Erika hopes to continue on to a Masters Program in 2021, to both develop and explore her passions both in Vocal Performance and Composition.
