  • Dr Marie McMarrow is an international concert artiste who has performed for over 30 years in the United States, Europe and the Caribbean. She was the winner of the best female classical category of the Jamaica Music 1993 awards [JAMI awards ], she was selected to represent the Caribbean as candidate for the vocal category of the Kennedy Fellowship awards in 1995/96.She is the winner of the 1995 Dutch Government Music Fellowship award, and the first singer awarded the Youri Egorov(pianist). Dr McMarrow is a permanent NTCM in vocal pedagogy, and her work was listed and advertised in the Musical America Magazine 2005.

Bio

Dr Marie McMarrow is an international coloratura soprano, who was one of the soprano soloist for the Jamaica Philharmonic orchestra for twenty years. She was also a member of the Jamaican Folk Singers for 12 years. She launched her career as a concert artiste after completing her Dutch Fellowship studies in the Netherlands. She has recorded rare Jamaican folk songs learned directly from Maroon descendants, as well as classical standards my Mozart, Handel, Schubert etc. She performed a concert series in New York with Dr Roger Williams, principal of the Jamaica School of Music , in 1996. She gave annual summer concerts in Rutland, Vermont with the late John Sears(died 2005). She gave performances in New York, Vermont, Philadelphia, and Massachusetts with Russian accompanist Peter Yuri Breykin. Dr McMarrow was interview by Vermont public radio and New York Channel 4 News. She has been featured on the Classical Arts Show, JBC Classical Hour show , Jamaica, and the Ralston McKenzie show on RJR, Jamaica. As a young musician in high school, she composed two Christmas carols that were recorded for JBC TV in 1977. Dr McMarrow taught Vocal pedagogy in Jamaica from 1998- 2004, She taught Voice at Castleton State University, Vermont from 2004-2007.
