With performances spanning opera, musical theater, and world music, singing both soprano and mezzo-soprano repertoire, critics have hailed Ahdda Shur as a “first rate artist with a fabulous voice,” “passionate and believable” and a “consummate musician”. She performed internationally in a variety of mezzo-soprano roles with major opera companies such as Zurich Oper, Switzerland, New Israeli Opera, Tel Aviv, Long Beach Opera, CA, Cincinnati Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin/San Antonio Festival, Strasbourg Music Festival, France, and more. Some of her roles include: CARMEN, BABA THE TURK (The Rakes Progress), PRINZ ORLOFSKY (Die Fledermaus), HANSEL (Hansel and Gretal), BEPPE (L'Amico Fritz), DRITTE DAME (Die Zauberflote), ZULMA (L'Italina In Algeria) MOTHER LARINA (Evegeny Onegin), ZIA PRINCIPESSA (Suor Angelica), BEGGAR WOMAN (Sweeny Todd), FOSCA (Fosca, by Gomez, American Premiere), MARTHE (Faust), PRINCE BUXTEHUDE (Excursions to Polyphonia, performed in Hebrew) and more. She also performed as mezzo-soprano soloist in concerts, with such orchestras as the Israel Philharmonic, the Rannana Symphoniette, and the San Antonio Symphony, Texas.

As an accomplished Cantorial Soloist, she has been a guest Cantorial Soloist with major USA Synagogues for the past 25 years, singing at Jewish High Holy Days with full choir and organ, or at Jewish Festivals, and Special Events. She was also frequently guest soloist at concerts of music conducted and composed by her late father, the well-known Jewish Music composer, Prof. Bonia Shur, of Hebrew Union College, Cincinnati, OH. She premiered and staged many concerts featuring Jewish and Israeli Art and Opera music.

Ahdda holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Opera and Opera Stage Direction from the Indiana University, School of Music, Bloomington, Indiana. In July 2017, Ahdda relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio from Los Angeles, CA, where she taught privately working with international and local singers and speakers. Previous to that she was an adjunct voice professor at the New World School of the Arts, Miami, and on the voice faculty of the Levinksy College of Education, Tel Aviv.
