Bio

Guatemalan born Soprano, Daniela Yurrita is known for her warm and silky timbre of highly expressive qualities, as well as her strong stage presence. In 2021, she was appointed Cultural Ambassador of Guatemala Abroad by the Guatemalan government. She gave her Carnegie Hall debut in New York in 2023 as a part of the Vincerò Mentorship Program.

She recently made her role and country debut as Contessa de Almaviva in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro at Teatro Ángela Peralta in Mazatlán, Mexico with great success.

The past February also saw her first steps in the Musical Theater world with the role of Mrs. Lovett in Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd with the Crazy Musical Company in Straubing, Germany, causing also great sensation.

Coming engagements include her debut in France in the city of Mulhouse presenting her Voice and Piano Duo project which focuses on Latin-American and Spanish Art Song alongside pianist Laetitia Ruccolo.

Additionally, Ms. Yurrita's opera repertoire includes: Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen, Mimi- Puccini’s La Bohème, Adina- Donizetti’s L'Elisir d’amore, Susanna- Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Despina- Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Musetta- Puccini's La Bohème, Suor Genoveffa- Puccini's Suor Angelica, Madame Herz- Mozart’s Der Schauspieldirektor, as well as multiple secondary and partial roles.

She has taken part in master classes and festivals like the Savannah Voice Festival and IVAI amongst others, in Russia, the USA, Germany, Austria and Spain, where she has worked with operatic personalities such as Sherrill Milnes, Joan Dorneman and many more.

The soprano is also an accomplished concert singer, having performed numerous concert and Oratorio works with various orchestras such as the Guatemalan National Symphony Orchestra, Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra, Jove Orquesta de Catalunya, Wernigerode Philharmonie and the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rhineland-Pfalz, among others. Furthermore, for two years, she was a featured soloist for the contemporary music ensemble Alea 21, which gave her extensive experience in this genre.

Ms. Yurrita earned her Bachelor's degree (Magna cum laude) at the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico under the tutelage of Prof. Bill Woodruff. Afterwards, she completed two Master Degrees, one focused on Lied and Oratorio and the second one focused in Opera, at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Mannheim, Germany; under Prof. Rudolf Piernay and Timothy Sharp. After completing her studies, she has continued her vocal development with Dale Fundling.

She was awarded the Societa Dante Alighieri de Guatemala's Young Opera Promise Recognition at age 15. She has also received recognitions such as: Encouragement award in the MET auditions district of PR, the Bel Canto Award from the Dr. Rabelo Association (PR), the Yehudi Menuhin Association: Live Music Now (Germany) scholarship, and 360° of Opera (USA) scholarship.
