Andy Ochoa

Soprano Andréa Ochoa brings intelligence, joy, and a shimmering instrument to art song platforms and the operatic stage. Recently, Ms. Ochoa performed a heartfelt yet intricate Leatitia turned Bessie in a double bill of Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Thief and Weill’s Mahagonny - Songspiel with NYU Steinhardt. She was also recently granted the 7th place award in Ópera Maya’s annual competition, where she was slated to perform as a Young Artist for the 2020 season before Covid-19. This fall, she will return to NYU Steinhardt as an alumna to perform the role of Ms. Wordsworth in Britten’s Albert Herring.

In 2019, Ms. Ochoa performed the role of Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro with New York Lyric Opera Theater. She was the heart and soul of the opera, and performed in acclaimed New York venues, including Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall, Scorca Hall at The National Opera Center, and Lincoln Center’s Bruno Walter Auditorium.

Ms. Ochoa completed her undergraduate studies at Oklahoma Christian University, where she received her Bachelor of Music Education. During this time, she built her skill set as a cross-trained singer performing in many musicals, her favorite roles including Marian Paroo in The Music Man and Beth March in Little Women: The Musical. For the past two years, she has lived in New York City where she has studied under the tutelage of acclaimed soprano Rosa Vento. During this time she has also earned her Master of Music in Vocal Performance and an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from NYU Steinhardt.

Ms. Ochoa is a dedicated and skilled voice teacher, having taught students ages 6-65 over the course of 7 years. During her graduate studies, she was an Adjunct Instructor of Voice at NYU Steinhardt, where she taught dozens of students a solidified and healthy technique across all singing genres.

Ms. Ochoa is also a yogi, runner, dog mom, and lover of chocolate cake.
