Tenor J. Matthew Boazman is a performer and conductor (and amateur composer) based in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He has been seen performing with the Converse Opera Theatre (Converse College) and GLOW Lyric Theatre and is regularly featured as soloist with Spartanburg Festival Chorus and First Presbyterian Chamber Singers.
Mr. Boazman performed with the Spartanburg Repertory Opera as Tamino in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. During the summer of 2018, he played Ferrando in Mozart’s Così fan tutte with the Vocal Academy of Orvieto and Opera Argentaria della Maremma (Orvieto, Italy).
He has played Oronte in Converse Opera Theatre’s production of Handel’s Alcina, Jaquino in GLOW Lyric Theatre’s production of Beethoven’s Fidelio, Roger Doremus in Converse Opera Theatre’s production of Lee Hoiby’s Pulitzer Prize winning opera, Summer and Smoke, and Le Prince Charmant in Pauline Viardot’s chamber opera Cendrillon.
Other musical activities include being music director and choral director in the Carolinas. He is currently the Director of Music at Second Presbyterian Church – Spartanburg, South Carolina and Music Teacher at Meeting Street Academy, also in Spartanburg.
Mr. Boazman holds a Master of Music in Voice Performance from Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina and a Bachelor of Arts in Church Music from Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina.
