Yuwan Zhang, mezzo-soprano, was born and raised in Chengdu, China. She came to the United States in 2016. In 2020, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Music and Biology from Goucher College, with honors in Music. She is currently studying in the Master of Arts in Teaching program at Goucher College and is the director and conductor of the Chinese youth choir and adult choir at Baltimore Chinese School. She is trained as a classical music vocalist and her performance experience includes solo voice recitals, orchestra solo vocalist, jazz ensemble vocalist, choir leading singer and chamber singer, and the a cappella group, Reverend’s Rebels. During her undergraduate time, she studied jazz performance and piano with Jeffrey Chappell and choral performance with Daniel McDavitt. She is currently studying vocal music performance with Annie Gill, and film composition with Michael Patterson. She will study film scoring at Columbia College Chicago in the fall of 2023. In her spare time, she enjoys photography, traveling, and writing in Mandarin.
