Bio

Abigail "Abby" Brodnick is a young soprano studying both classical and musical theatre vocal styles. She is currently at DePauw University in Greencastle, IN in the studio of Dr. Andre Campelo, studying vocal performance with a minor in musical theatre. Some of her favorite past roles include Lilli Vanessi/Kate in "Kiss Me, Kate," Jenny in Ned Rorem's "Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters," the Dew Fairy in Humperdinck's "Hänsel und Gretel," the Nightingale in Respighi's "La bella dormente nel bosco", and Miss Barley in "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder." She has performed in multiple scene work performances, studying roles such as Beth March in "Little Women", Millie Dillmount in "Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Karen Smith in "Mean Girls." She has also participated in masterclasses at DePauw University with artists such as Kelli O'Hara, Lisette Oropesa, Laura Osnes, and Kevin Massey. At the Indiana NATS competition, Abby placed first for her classical female category in 2018, third in her classical female category in 2019, and first in both her classical female and musical theatre categories in 2020. Abby also was chosen in February 2020 to prepare and perform Susan Botti's chamber vocal and percussion piece, "Bird Songs," in which she had the opportunity to work with the composer directly and perform in a chamber concert as part of DePauw University's 21st Century Music Festival.
