Raised in Bedford, Indiana, Will Upham is an operatic tenor pursuing his Master of Music degree in vocal performance at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He is studying voice with Professor Clifton Forbis. Will recently recently received a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. While there, he studied voice with Professor Caroline Smith. Will's most recent performances include roles such as Il Principe Aprile in Respighi's "La bella dormente nel bosco" and Jamie Wellerstein in a concert production of Jason Robert Brown's "The Last Five Years" at DePauw University. He was also a member of The College Light Opera Company's 2019 vocal company and performed roles such as Mr. Harry MacAfee in "Bye Bye Birdie" and Captain Dori van Damm in Victor Herbert's operetta "The Red Mill." Some of Will’s other past roles include Le Prince Charmant in Massenet's "Cendrillon," Eddie Souther in Alan Menken's "Sister Act," Don Curzio in Mozart's "Le nozze di Figaro," and Lippo Fiorentino in Weill's "Street Scene." Besides his stage work, Will is also a member of the SMU Meadows Chamber Singers and the opera manager for the SMU Meadows Lyric Theatre. He also recently finished his tenure as a chapel intern at Gobin Church in Greencastle, Indiana where he helped lead worship. Will has seen success in vocal competitions, finishing second in the 3rd and 4th Year College TBB Classical Combined and 3rd and 4th Year College Treble/TBB Musical Theater Combined divisions at the Great Lakes 2020 Regional NATS Auditions as well as winning the 2020 DePauw University Concerto Competition.
