Bio

Renowned as one of the emerging talents hailing from Latin America, Ricardo Ceballos has garnered acclaim for his "deep and beautiful resonance" and distinguished by his "magnificent menacing voice" according to Operawire. His artistic journey commenced as a young artist at the Bellas Artes Opera Studio in Mexico City, culminating in his Bellas Artes debut in 2023, portraying the role of Nourabad from "Les Pêcheurs de Perles" at the Compañía Nacional de Opera de Bellas Artes. Noteworthy performances include his participation in the "Bella noche de Musica" concert presented by Austin Opera and his role as the bass soloist in Verdi's Requiem with the Ulster Orchestra in the UK.

Upcoming productions feature Mr. Ceballos as Sarastro in The Magic Flute, Don Basilio in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at Highlands Opera Studio, and Frère Laurent in Roméo et Juliette.

Hailing from Colima, Mexico, Mexican Bass-Baritone Ricardo Ceballos achieved first place in "The Dallas Opera Guild Lone Star Vocal Competition" in 2020 and emerged as a finalist in "The Dallas Opera National Competition" in 2021. He also secured the second position in the Linus Lerner International Voice Competition the same year. Previously, he was a part of the Barbara and Halsey Sandford Studio Artist Program at Kentucky Opera during the 2020/21 season. His repertoire boasts performances in various roles such as Dulcamara in L'elisir d'amore and Bartolo in Le Nozze di Figaro at IU Opera Theater, among others. He has collaborated with prestigious orchestras including The Dallas Opera Orchestra, Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, and IU Symphony Orchestra, to name a few.

In his educational pursuits, Mr. Ceballos completed his Performers Diploma under the tutelage of bass Peter Volpe at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He received guidance from conductor Enrique Patron and Professor Barbara Hill-Moore, having trained at IUBA and CMA in Mexico, as well as Southern Methodist University in the United States. His formative years also included participation in the young artist program at the International Society of Mexican Artistic Values (SIVAM) in Mexico, where he had the privilege of learning from esteemed mentors such as Teresa Rodriguez, Vlad Iftinca, and Joan Dornemann.
