Juliana Shryock

Juliana Shryock is a freshman studying at Florida Gulf Coast University where she is pursuing a double major in music education and vocal performance. She has a broad musical background and has participated in a variety of honor choirs and professional development conferences throughout the course of her life. These include the Florida Music Educators Association’s All-State choirs and conferences, Hillsborough’s All-County honor choirs, and the American Choral Directors Association’s choirs and conferences; each of which she has participated in multiple times. Though her appreciation for choral music is strong, she also has an intense passion for performing.

Juliana began taking voice lessons when she was eight years old and has spent most of her vocal career studying classical and theatrical repertoire. With the skills that she has developed through these lessons, she has presented herself at vocal competitions such as Solo and Ensemble at the district and state level for seven years in a row, consistently receiving superior ratings and top honors. As well as this, she has participated in the National Association for Teachers of Singing Competition four times, most notably placing first in her category for woman’s musical theatre in 2023.

Attending college has given Juliana the opportunity to explore opera, a style that she has had little exposure to, but a lot of interest in. Early into her freshman year she auditioned for Florida Gulf Coast University’s Dido and Aneas, where she landed her first role and will make her opera debut as Witch Two in late March.

During her free time, Juliana is most often found in a practice room or surrounding herself with beautiful music. She is dedicated to becoming a professional performer and aspires to learn as much as she can about music and opera. She sees each moment as an opportunity to develop and grow into a better performer and person. Juliana is committed and excited to see all the future has in store for her.
