Bio

Daniel Uglunts, baritone, is well versed in the world of classical music and classical voice. Born to a concert pianist and a former New York Philharmonic violinist, Daniel began his musical training very early. Starting at 12, Daniel made his operatic debut with the Dallas Opera in their fall production of Puccini’s Tosca. Daniel later worked with the Dallas Opera on their production of Britten’s The Turn of The Screw. Daniel is an annual participant of Dolora Zajick’s acclaimed Institute for Young Dramatic Voices, being the only student to study classical voice and conducting. Daniel has worked with acclaimed coaches from Teatro Alla Scala, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and the Metropolitan Opera in masterclasses and individual lessons. In addition, he is a participant in both the Washington National Opera High School Opera Program and the Dandelion Opera Institute. Daniel has also participated in five plays and two musicals with the St. Mark’s School of Texas Theater Company, and two musicals with the Hockaday Theater Company. Some of his most recent roles include Zangler in Gershwin’s Crazy For You, Edward Rutledge in Edwards’ 1776, and Dr. Armstrong in Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None. Daniel balances a heavy musical schedule with being a rising senior in high school, as well as performing in the St. Mark’s Choir. In addition to his vocal and theatrical feats, Daniel also regularly plays the St. Mark’s School of Texas’ Roosevelt Family Carillon, playing one of only 166 in America. He also enjoys composing and learning languages, being trilingual himself.
