Synopsis

Ghiulnara Raileanu was born on November 11, 1984 in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova. She attended the College of Music “St. Neaga (2004), and subsequently graduate and alumnus of the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts, Chisinau (2008), studying with the professor Tatiana Busuioc, Master of Arts.

Her notorious roles includes title roles such as: Floria Tosca in “Tosca” by G. Puccini, Countess Rosina Almaviva in “The marriage of Figaro”, Desdemona in “Otello” by G. Verdi, Mimi in “La Boheme” and Liu in “Turandot”, etc.

Honors and special merits: Special Mention for the Best Female Debut for her outstanding role Amelia in Opera “A Masked Ball” by G. Verdi, honored at Iasi National Opera Gala. Pre-finalist 4th “I. Bogaciova” International Competition (St. Petersburg, Russia, 2008), 7th “Hariclea Darclee” International Voice Competition (Romania, 2009), Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition (Minsk, 2015), International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition (Poland, 2016).

Background, Performances and Repertory

She began her musical career path by the age of 9, performing at the National Children’s Choir “Lia Ciocarlia”. She also sang in the Children’s Play “The Ugly Duckling” at the Chisinau National Opera and Balley Theatre “Maria Biesu”.

In 2009 she attended canto master classes with Romanian operatic soprano Mariana Nicolesco. Since 2010 she works as a soloist at Chisinau National Opera and Ballet Theatre “Maria Biesu”. She made her professional operatic debut on the stage of the Chisinau National Opera and Ballet Theatre “Maria Biesu” in the role of Countess Rosina in “The marriage of Figaro” in 2014.

Roles that marked her career and that will prominently figure in her career are: Amelia in “A masked ball” by G. Verdi (April 2014), Floria in “Tosca” by G. Puccini (December 2014). In 2016 she made her role in two performances: Mimi in “La Boheme” and Liu in “Turandot”.


Her emotional interpretation and vibrant voice were highly acclaimed by musical critics and accordingly she garnered Special Mention for the Best Female Debut for her outstanding role Amelia in Opera “A Masked Ball” by G. Verdi and was honored at Iasi National Opera Gala.

A prolific soprano singer, Ghiulnara has participated in numerous vocal competitions such as: 4th “I. Bogaciova” International Competition (St. Petersburg, Russia), 7th “Hariclea Darclee” International Voice Competition (Romania), Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition (Minsk, 2015), International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition (Poland, 2016)

Additionally, she took part in different singing projects, has given free recitals and has participated in multiple singing workshops for Chisinau National Opera and Ballet Theatre “Maria Biesu”. The conductors who contributed considerably to her opera career and musical accomplishments are: Andriy Yurkevych (Ukraine, Poland, Moldova), Nicolae Dohotaru (Moldova), Alexander Samoila (Romania, Ukraine).
