Bio

Leah Manning, soprano, is originally from the United States of America and currently resides in Vienna, Austria. She has performed in major opera festivals, such as St. Margarethen Oper im Steinbruch where she sang the role of Frasquita in Bizet's Carmen. She also performed at the Salzburg Festival in 2021, singing the Soprano Solo in Nono's modern opera Intolleranza.

Leah completed her studies at the University of Virginia in the United States of America, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music as well as Economics, and a minor in Astronomy. She also received her Diploma for her studies in Operetta at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna in 2020. She currently studies with Sylvia Greenberg.

Leah has performed internationally, with engagements in South Africa, Germany, Italy, and the USA. In 2020, she sang the role of Hanna Glawari in Lehár’s Die Lustige Witwe in Vienna at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna. She was also engaged by Brooklyn Theatre in Pretoria, South Africa to perform the role of Pamina in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, as well as the role of Gilda in Verdi's Rigoletto. Leah has also had the pleasure of singing the title role in Alma Deutscher’s Cinderella alongside musicians of the Vienna Philharmonic. In Vienna, Austria, she has sung numerous roles with Oper in der Krypta, including Adina in Donizetti's L'elisir d’amore, Musetta in Puccini's La Bohème, Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and Susanna in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro.

Leah has performed in Germany as well; she appeared as Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro at Theater Arnstadt, Clorinda in Rossini’s La Cenerentola at Theater Rudolstadt, the Taumännchen in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel with Junge Oper Schloss Weikersheim, as well as other roles (see CV for complete list of roles).

In France, Leah has been selected as a Finalist for two competitions: the Concours de chant lyrique di Nïmes and the Vienne en Voix Concours in Vivonne.

Additionally, Leah performs frequently in concert, with a wide range of repertoire that includes works from oratorios, opera, operetta, and modern music.
