Nathanael Fleming’s most recent engagements with the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Opera Theater include Dr. Blind (Die Fledermaus), Mr. Angel (The Impresario), Tanzmesiter (Ariadne auf Naxos), Lacouf (Les Mamelles de Tirésias), and Sheldon (Later the Same Evening). With SFCM’s Musical Theater, he performed the roles of the Baker (Into the Woods), Macheath (The Threepenny Opera) and El Gallo (The Fantasticks). He has also appeared as King Kaspar in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors and Bill in Samuel Barber’s A Hand of Bridge.
A San Francisco native, Nathanael performs a wide variety of genres from opera to musical theater to jazz. Nathanael recently graduated with a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He received his BA in Film & Media Studies with a Minor in Music from Whitman College, where he also played varsity soccer.
Nathanael currently studies with Jane Randolph. While studying at SFCM, he was under the tutelage of directors Heather Mathews, Jose Maria Condemi, Michael Mohammed, Michael Horsley, Curt Pajer, and coach Alex Katsman. In July 2021, he will be covering the roles of Maynard and Faulkner in Gordon Getty’s new opera Goodbye, Mr. Chips.
An avid reader, Nathanael also enjoys hiking and walking with his dog.
