Carly Cummings is a versatile performer who has sung roles in a variety of productions throughout the country. Roles include Cendrillon in Cendrillon, Adina in L'elisir d'amore, Alice in Le Comte Ory, and Gretel in Hansel und Gretel with companies including Chicago Summer Opera and Manhattan Opera Studio (NY). Also with Chicago Summer Opera she was featured in scenes as Alice in Falstaff and Lucia in The Rape of Lucretia. Additional scenes include Pamina in Die Zauberflöte and Antonia in Le Contes d’Hoffmann at Carnegie Hall. At Peabody Conservatory she most recently performed Magda in Puccini’s La Rondine, and prior to that she sang Prima Sorella Cercatrici in Suor Angelica, Soprano Monster in the outreach production of The Hiding Tree, and Doctor #3 in The Falling and the Rising. She is currently working on Michaela in Bizet’s Carmen with Miami Music Festival, which has been postponed to 2021 due to COVID-19.
Previous experience includes the roles of Witch One in Dido and Aeneas, and Girl in Strawberry Fields with San Diego State University’s Opera Theater, scenes as Pamina and Eurydice with the Seattle Opera Academy, and being a part of Music Academy of the West’s production of Carmen.
With San Diego Opera, Cummings was involved in their training program, Opera Exposed, from 2015-2018, and she performed numerous times with San Diego Opera’s outreach.
Cummings was awarded first place in the NATS San Diego competition (San Diego region division 11) in 2017, and first place in San Diego Campus Superstar in the spring of 2018.
Teachers include Laurinda Nikkel at San Diego State University, and Ah Young Hong at the Peabody Conservatory, from where she received a Masters degree.
