Bio

Krithi Santhanam is a junior at Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington DC, and is a Soprano 1 in the Vocal Music department. She has had a passion for music which began at a very young age, and has since gone on to sing in a variety of genres including musical theatre, classical, opera, and jazz. She took voice lessons from Ms. Jennifer Randall at The Vocal Arts Institute from ages 10-14, then continuing her lessons in classical art song at Duke Ellington from Ms. Tess Ottinger from ages 15-present. She currently studies vocal jazz at the Washington Jazz Arts Institute where she also plays piano which she has been playing since age 6. A couple of her notable theatre roles were in Grease as Sandy, and in Radium Girls as Grace Fryer. She was apart of her first opera at age 13 in Amahl and the Night Visitors (Amahl) at Frostburg University in Maryland. She was a recipient of a superior rating at Virginia Thespians Festival in January of 2023, which then took her to International Thespians Festival at Indiana University in June of 2023.
