Mezzo-soprano Sharon Rhinesmith is a frequent performer of oratorio, opera and recital. Her solo performances include appearances with The Philadelphia Orchestra at the Mann Music Center and The Philadelphia Singers at Merkin Hall in New York. Other solo appearances include performances with The Music Group of Philadelphia, The Philadelphia Chorus, The Pennsylvania Sinfonia Orchestra/Camerata Singers, The Princeton Pro Musica and The Bach Aria Festival of New York. She has also sung major roles with the ConcertOpera Philadelphia and the Lake George (New York) Opera Festival, among many others. Most recently, Sharon was the alto soloist in the Vivaldi Gloria with Vox Amadeus and the alto soloist this season in the Bach Magnificat and the Durufle Requiem with Mendelssohn Chorus..
As a recitalist Sharon's list of venues include the Temple University Noonday Arts Series, The Art Alliance of Philadelphia, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Lively Arts Series at Montgomery County Community College and the Concerts by Candlelight Series in Cape May, New Jersey. Collaborating with classical guitarist Thomas Smith, she also performed on numerous concert series including the Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society and Concerts on the Square at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Philadelphia.
In addition to her position as an alto section leader with Mendelssohn Chorus, Sharon's professional chorus work includes The Philadelphia Symphonic Choir, Vox Amadeus and The Philadelphia Singers Chorale.
Sharon received her Bachelor and Master’s of Music degrees in Voice Performance from Temple University's Esther Boyer College of Music. She is currently on the voice faculty at Settlement Music School and Temple University Music Preparatory in Philadelphia.
