Vianca Alejandra is a New York-based Puerto Rican soprano. Currently, a first prize winner in the Adult Voice Classical category at the Music International Grand Prix competition and a District Winner from The Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. In January, she will represent the Puerto Rico District in the Gulf Coast Regional Round. As a member of the New York Philharmonic Chorus, she participated in the world premiere of "Émigré" in Shanghai, China. During her 2022-2023 season, she made her role debut as Kathie in "The Student Prince" with Regina Opera (Brooklyn, NY) and as Pamina in "Die Zauberflöte" at the International Summer Opera Festival of Morelia (Mexico).
Vianca's musical education began at age seven when she was selected to join the San Juan Children's Choir. She is a former Assistant Conductor to Maestro Malcolm J. Merriweather at The Dessoff Choirs. Furthermore, she holds a Master's degree in Voice Performance from Brooklyn College, where she received the departmental Opera-Theater Award. At the age of 16, she had the privilege of studying with the late legendary tenor Antonio Barasorda at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico. When she was 17, Vianca debuted as a soloist in the "Concierto Tradicional de Reyes" of the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Roselín Pabón.
