Mezzo soprano and high school sophomore Amanda Remy started her vocal journey at the age of 8 when she played a fairy in a musical theater production of "Cinderella" At 12-years-old she was introduced to the impressive realm of classical singing. Since then, she has furthered her classical education via Opera Modesto’s Summer Institute over the past two years and continues taking voice lessons for both opera and musical theater.
Her most recent achievement was placing third in the Kristina Townsend Memorial Vocal Competition and was praised for her “beautiful natural voice,” and her “excellent intonation.” In addition, she played a Knaben in the “The Magic Flute,” and sang in the impressive choir for Opera Modesto’s 40th Anniversary Gala. Amanda is known for her vocal versatility. When needed, she has sung soprano to alto in Opera Modesto’s Summer Institute productions.
Amanda attends Gregori High School in Modesto, California, where she is in the honor choir and a solo singer. Talented in many various musical pursuits, she is currently the lead vocalist for the alternative rock band “Amber Room,” via Modesto’s Valley Music institute. A proficient musician, she plays piano, cello, guitar, bass, and the ukulele. In her spare time between school and music, she enjoys roller skating and making short films.
