Bio

ANDREA SAPOSNIK, mezzo-soprano, has performed extensively in opera, oratorio, and recital. Her recent performances include Haydn’s Missa in tempore belli, Haydn’s Theresienmesse, and the role of Micah in Handel’s Samson, all with the Putnam Chorale; the Duruflé Requiem and Handel’s Messiah with Irvington Presbyterian Church; and Respighi’s Il Tramonto in Arcidosso, Italy. She is a frequent soloist with the Long Island Choral Society, where she has performed Bach’s Magnificat and Mass in B Minor, the Requiems of Duruflé and Verdi, Copland's In the Beginning, Handel's Messiah, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and world premieres of works by Meredith Baker and James Cowdery. She was a fellow at the Ravinia Festival and he Bach Aria Festival, and has been a frequent collaborator with members of the Bach Aria Group.

Dr. Saposnik has performed with the New York City Opera educational outreach department, and her operatic roles include Cherubino and Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro, Second and Third Ladies in Die Zauberflöte, and Maddalena in Rigoletto.

Her recordings include Handel’s Messiah with Trinity Choir and Orchestra on Naxos and Elliot Goldenthal's Juan Darien on Sony.

Dr. Saposnik holds a DMA in Voice from CUNY Graduate Center, a MM in Voice from Yale University, a BM in Voice from Oberlin Conservatory, and a BA in English from Oberlin College. She is also certified in Somatic Voicework™, focusing on the singing and instruction of contemporary commercial music. She is in the process of completing coursework to become a Certified Personal Trainer to enhance her knowledge of physiology and her skills as a teacher.
