Bio

CRISTINA PAOLETTA

Cristina Paoletta, raised in Toronto, Canada, earned her B.A. from University of Toronto, where she majored in Italian ad History and a minor in French Studies. Because opera singer didn’t seem like a job one could aspire to, she pursued a teaching degree; however, her love of singing and languages could not be distinguished. The career in teaching was not the same as performing on stage.

Cristina discovered love of the stage at a young age in a grade 2 play where she played the role of an owl. She mesmerized the audience and truly sang like a “bird”. With encouragement by teachers to pursue her voice and acting ability, it was trying for a newly emigrated family from Italy, so Cristina pursued her studies on her own. At the age of 13, Cristina paid her own voice lessons with the Royal Conservatory of Music under the direction of Helen Simmie.

After pursuing a career in songwriting and two CD’s later, Cristina’s love for theatre and stage led her back to pursuing opera and musical theatre.

Under the tutelage of several voice and acting coaches and with most notably Marjorie Sparks and Elliot Madore (famous baritone), her voice is confident, free, and rich.

With a sparkling stage presence, soprano Cristina Paoletta has thrilled audiences in her native city of Toronto. This Lyric Soprano is noted for her dramatic stage presence and challenging repertoire.

Her list of repertoire include Puccini, Verdi, Mozart, Handel, Bach, Menotti, Donizetti, Bernstein, Gilbert and Sullivan, Rodgers and Hart, Weill and many more. Her ability to crossover from opera to musical theatre shows her versatility as an artist.

Having performed in opera concerts, competitions and recitals in Italy, Canada and the United States, Cristina is no stranger to the stage ready to make her mark on the international one.
