Bio

Katelyn Neumann, a mezzo-soprano originating from Santa Barbara, California, holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from California State University, Northridge, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Recognized by both local and national music organizations, she is a six-time Santa Barbara Music Club scholarship recipient, an honorary club member, and a distinguished performer. Ms. Neumann's operatic journey spans notable roles, such as Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro with the Lyric Opera Studio in Weimar, Germany, Maddalena in Verdi’s Rigoletto with Capitol City Opera, and Mother in Capitol City Opera’s world premiere of Curtis Bryant's The Secret Agent.

Having graced stages across the San Francisco Bay Area, Ms. Neumann's repertoire includes performances with Opera San Jose in Madama Butterfly, Don Giovanni, The Magic Flute, and Le Nozze di Figaro. She made her debut with Lamplighters Musical Theatre in San Francisco as Leila in Gilbert and Sullivan's Iolanthe and assumed lead roles with Lyric Theatre of San Jose in productions like The Prince of Pilsen, Utopia Limited, and Iolanthe, where she portrayed the Fairy Queen. Ms. Neumann's commitment to nurturing a love for musical theater is evident through her performance as Mother Pig and the Three Vendors in Palo Alto Children’s Theatre's musical rendition of The Three Little Pigs.

Versatile in her musical pursuits, Ms. Neumann served as the soloist for Luciano Berio’s “O King,” a tribute to Martin Luther King, participated in Taylor Mac’s tour of A 24-Decade History of Popular Music, and sang in the world premiere of Jeremy Schonfeld's theatrical concert, Iron and Coal. Currently residing in Washington D.C., she lends her vocal prowess to Maryland Lyric Opera, Opera NOVA, and The Victorian Lyric Opera Company. Beyond the stage, Ms. Neumann plays an integral role in the music ministry at National United Methodist Church in Washington D.C., serving as the Alto Section Leader in the Chancel Choir and the Director of the Children’s Choir. Committed to education, she teaches voice and piano.
