Raluca Vallois | Biography
Raluca Vallois is a French lyric singer and actress. She arrived in France as a child, shortly after the Romanian Revolution.
Searching her own path and curious about a wide range of subjects, she headed towards preparatory classes for business schools, then medicine, before finally listening to her heart's desire and choosing the performing arts, which she had loved since childhood. The opera house in Cluj was a place of enchantment for the young child, where she followed the work of a tenor who was a family friend, and where she practised classical dance.
So she embraced an artistic path, alternating training and professional projects.
She studied literature and dramaturgy at the Université Catholique de l'Ouest of Angers and at La Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris, and directed Marivaux's Fausse Suivante at the University of Angers Theatre Festival. She then worked as a stage assistant director with Rodolphe Dana and the Collectif Les Possédés with the productions of ‘Bullet Park’ and ‘Tout mon amour’ at the Théâtre de la Bastille and the Théâtre National de la Colline in Paris.
She also trained in acting at the Ecole Internationale Jacques Lecoq and the Ecole du Jeu in Paris, and played under the direction of Amandine Gilbert in the creation ‘Le Comité des fêtes’ as part of the alternative collective Curry Vavart, and under the direction of Marcus Borja in the creations ‘Intranquillité’ at the CNSAD in Paris and ‘Théâtre’, at the Festival Impatience of the Théâtre National de la Colline and at the Théâtre de la Cité Internationale in Paris.
On camera she was directed by Vivien Hartmann in ‘Le Cadeau’, produced by the Fémis and selected for the Kiev International Molodist Festival and the Baden-Würtenberg Festival, and by Vincent Thépaut in ‘Le Petit chaos d'Ana’.
Alongside her acting activities, she trained in opera singing at the Conservatoires de Montreuil and Pantin, then with Nadine Denize at the Schola Cantorum in Paris, working mainly on a dramatic mezzo-soprano repertoire. She graduated with the Concert Diploma in 2022 and follows the Perfectionnement Class with the great Maestra since then.
She sings as a soloist directed by Gabriel Ortega in Handel's Messiah at the Théâtre Bernard-Marie Koltès in Nanterre and in Mozart's Requiem with the Ensemble Instrumental de Montluçon and Florent Mayet at the Athanor in Montluçon. She performs the role or Bradamante in Handel's Alcina, conducted by Marouan Mankar Benni. She creates the role of Camille in Jean-Paul Pénin's opera ‘L'Ile’, based on a libretto by Françoise Kérymer, which won the Prix de l'Académie de Marine, and the role of Phèdre in Henri Farge's opera ‘Minos et Pasiphaé’, based on an adaptation of André Suarès’s play. She will soon be playing the lead role in Rossini's L'Italienne à Alger at the Hampton Opera Center in Portland, USA.
Opera combines her two passions: scenic and vocal expression. Her dearest wish is to blossom in this total art form, so humanly true and stimulating for both actress and singer that she is. To achieve this goal she continues to work and to prepare for her roles with the wonderful Maestra, Nadine Denize.
