Eileen Mackintosh

American soprano, Eileen Mackintosh, possesses a shimmering and rich soprano voice that soars over an orchestra. She has been hailed for her enchanting, character-driven stage presence. Her reputation has been established not only for her superb musicianship and solid vocal technique but also for her collegiality, professionalism, and generosity of spirit both on the stage and in the teaching studio.

Singing performance highlights include the title roles in Norma and The Merry Widow, Abigaille (Nabucco), Desdemona (Otello), Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte), Lady Macbeth (Macbeth), Frau Fluth (Merry Wives of Windsor), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus) and Konstanze (Die Entfürung aus dem Serail).

​As a young artist Eileen Mackintosh sang the Mozart roles of First Lady, Donna Elvira, and Marcellina. In 2012 Mrs. Mackintosh premiered the role of Eleanor of Acquitane in the pastiche opera, Becket, singing the music of Verdi and Gounod with Long Island Masterworks. In 2013 Eileen made her debut with One World Symphony Orchestra in New York singing the Ophelia Lieder of Strauss.

Eileen is highly versed with Oratorio with experience as soloist, conductor and chorister. Highlights include singing the soprano solos in Orff’s Carmina Burana, and in Handel’s Messiah with the Delaware Valley Choral Society in Pennsylvania as well as in the Cadet Chapel at West Point Military Academy in the Hudson Valley of New York. In January of 2016, she was the soprano soloist in the Requiem of Verdi with Mineola Choral Society on Long Island, New York and returned with them in January 2019 to sing the soprano solo in the Stabat Mater of Dvořák.

During her years as conductor, Mrs Mackintosh was in demand as workshop clinician and festival choir conductor. Eileen founded the Middletown Chorale in New York in 1996 and was the Music Director of the 80-voice choir until 2008. After several successful seasons, Mrs. Mackintosh and the Middletown Chorale were invited to join choirs from around the US to perform major choral works at Carnegie Hall in New York, including Mozart’s Requiem, Beethoven's Mass in C, and Orff’s Carmina Burana with Mid America productions.

Moving from New York in 2017, she now lives in the Highlands of Scotland with her Scottish husband. She is establishing a singing, conducting and teaching career in the UK, and in 2019 presented a recital Connections: In Spirit and Song with pianist Robin Versteeg with the enchanting music of Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder, the soaring melodies of American composer Ernest Charles, a Spirit-filled Hymn set along with opera favourites. In September 2020, she makes her debut with Ness Symphonia singing the soprano solo in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.

With 25 years of experience as a teacher and professional musician, Mrs. Mackintosh works full time as opera singer, voice teacher, choral clinician, accompanist, church musician and vocal competition adjudicator.

Eileen earned her Master of Music from the University of Connecticut in Music Education and Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the State University of New York at Fredonia majoring in piano and voice and is a permanently certified music teacher in New York State. She is a member of the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) and Sigma Alpha Iota (Female Music Fraternity.)
