Bio

Described as “…a soprano voice of exceptional warmth and beauty” *, Danielle Ricki Dean began her professional singing career at the age of 18 as a soloist with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra (Virginia, USA) and has since appeared on stages in the U.S, Europe and Asia including the Berliner Philharmonie, Lincoln Center, Wigmore Hall, Kennedy Center and Berliner Dom.

She made her operatic debut in 2009 singing the role of "Jenny Hildebrand" in Street Scene with George Mason University Opera and concurrently made her international debut in Seoul, Korea singing "Miss Silverpeal" (The Impresario) and "Suor Dolcina"(Suor Angelica) with the International Summer Music Institute at EWHA Woman’s University.

Most recently, Ms. Dean sang “Giuseppe” in a gender-bending production of “La Traviata” with Summer Garden Opera in Virginia and a performance of excerpts from the role of Minnijean Brown at the world premiere of “The Little Rock Nine” with the MacDowell Music Colony in New York and in 2020, ‘performed in virtual concert as a member of the Opera Training Studio of Grammy Award winning Soprano Angel Blue.

Other operatic credits included singing the "The Queen of the Night" with the Metropolitan Opera Guild in the company’s first ever touring production of “The Magic Flute”; the title role in scenes from “Rodelina” and “Norina” in Don Pasquale with Mannes Opera Studio; “Musetta” (La Boheme) and “Lucy” (The Telephone) with the George Mason Opera Theater and “Gianetta” (L’elisir d’amore) with the Bethesda Summer Music Festival.

As a competitor, Ms. Dean was the 2011 winner of The George Mason University School of Music Concerto Competition, a First prize winner of The James Bland Music Competition, two- time winner of the National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition (Mid-Atlantic Region), two-time Honoree of the FMMC Sue Goetz-Ross Memorial Voice Competition, a finalist of Opera Ebony's Benjamin Matthews Competition and semi-finalist of the Licia Albanese-Puccini Competition.

In addition to her operatic career, Ms. Dean has enjoyed a career in both music theater and gospel music as a touring artist with Donna Brown and the Golden Gospel Pearls in Berlin, Germany where she made her first live television appearance on the ZDF MorgenMagazin Show in 2017. She has also been featured in Vogue.com, Elle Magazine, Yahoo!News, the Huffington Post and The New York Times for her appearances as a singer in New York City Fashion Week. She took on her greatest role in 2019 when she became a mother and enjoys raising and instilling a love for music in her daughter.
