Hi, I’m Sydney Berg and here is a little bit about me so you can get to know me better. I am a huge advocate for rare invisible disabilities. I started advocating at the age of 13 when I got diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, or EDS, a rare chronic invisible disability. Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome is a group of inherited disorders that affect your connective tissues, primarily your skin, joints and blood vessel walls. I received my AA this year at the age of 17. While studying for my AA degree I also pursued American Sign Language and am now mostly fluent in ASL. I fell in love with performing arts and voice when I was 8 years old and have performed in both adult and youth theater productions for the past 11 years. My most notable roles were Fiona in Shrek, Jasmine in Aladdin, Ariel in The Little Mermaid, Nala in the Lion King, Nevada Opera’s Sweeny Todd and the young Shakespear educational outreach program. I have also been in local TV commercials, an outdoor billboard campaign and I have one movie credit as a featured extra to my name. Along with working with my vocal coaches I pursue ballet, jazz, lyrical dance, and attend dance conventions. I have qualified for International Thespian Festival for the past three years and received golds at our local solo competition in classical voice. I volunteered my free time working with rescued and abused horses, grooming, riding, and training. My love for people and helping others has blossomed into serving meals on Thanksgiving and Christmas days at St. Vincent’s and spending time with friends with developmental disabilities. I enjoy working with younger kids preparing them in vocals and dance for upcoming auditions. My time as a dance captain and choreographer have given me additional perspective into staging theater. In my free time I enjoy photography, travel, and spending time with my family and pets.
