Berit Hagen

I’ve studied Bel Canto privately for years with Elisabeth Hilltout, who was herself trained by multi award winning Italian soprano Aida Meneghelli, in Verona, Italy. Meneghelli was a student of world famous soprano Elvira De Hidalgo, also known as Maria Callas’ singing teacher.

I’m a pure coloratura soprano with a vocal range up to B6.

I’ve been active as a singer, songwriter and virtuoso guitarist since 2008, under my artist name The Commander In Chief. I’ve enjoyed international success in 3 genres, with appearances on major TV shows, viral music videos, features in leading music magazines, and performances on major festivals, as an independent artist with my own record label. I have in total released 4 albums. In mid 2020 I announced on my social media that I was back to my normal performance and energy level again, after an almost 4 years long recovery from a parasite infection that left me bedridden for 18 months. My focus has been on making my official opera debut as an opera singer, after my illness.
