Lauren Corcoran Emrich, soprano is a native and current resident of Pittsburgh. Lauren is an active performer in her hometown and surrounding area. She is the 2019-2020 winner of an Encouragement Award at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Pittsburgh District auditions. Lauren was recently seen as Dama and Lady Macbeth (school production) in Verdi's Macbeth with Opera Western Reserve and perform as a guest soloist with Pittsburgh Youth Concert Orchestra. An active soloist and recitalist, she recently performed the soprano solo in Brahms's Ein deutsches Requiem with The University of Akron Choirs and a Lenten Recital at Coraopolis United Methodist Church collaborating with Nolan Petote, clarinet, and Bryan Sable, piano. This season, Lauren joins the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh as a core soprano. Last season, she made her debut with Resonance Works as Ivy Smith in Bernstein's On the Town, A Joyous Sound!, and Bach's St. John Passion. A highlight for this upcoming summer, Lauren will sing with Voces Solis Summer Singers. Previously in the Cleveland area, she sang for Renée Fleming in masterclass through the Cleveland Orchestra Education Program and in the chorus of Cleveland Opera Theater's production of La Bohème. Lauren was a semifinalist at the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) National Competition in 2017 and 2016. Other competitions include: first place - Voices of Canton (VOCI) Scholarship Competition, first (2015) and second place (2016) - Ohio NATS Competition, first (2017) and second place (2016) - NATS Great Lakes Regional Competition, and second place - Tuesday Musical Scholarship Competition. Lauren holds degrees from The Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University and The University of Akron.
