Bio

Finnish, young jugendlich-dramatisch (spinto) soprano Sanna Matinniemi has been awarded in several international and national singing competitions. Ms. Matinniemi graduated from Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien with the highest distinctions as a stundent of KS Krassimira Stoyanova in 2021.

Ms. Matinniemi made her operatic debut in 2012 as Zerlina in Mozart´s Don Giovanni in Lyric Opera Studio Weimar. Her more recent roles include Ariadne in Ariadne auf Naxos (Wien, Schlosstheater Schönbrunn, 2021), Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte (MDW, Wien), Viclinda in Verdi´s I Lombardi alla prima crociata (Ternitz), Fidalma in Cimaroca´s Un matriomonio segreto (Schlosstheater Schönbrunn), Ifigenia in Händel´s Oreste (Schlosstheater Schönbrunn, Wien), and her debut in Savonlinna Opera Festival (2017) as Ainikki in Aulis Sallinen´s Kullervo with conductor Hannu Lintu.

As a concert singer Matinniemi has sung as a soloist of various orchestras and has given several concerts and recitals for example in Austria (e.g. Wiener Konzerthaus), Germany, Finland, Hungary and in Switzerland.
